Historical Archive of Bus Transportation in Algarve

In the beginning of this century, they’re where several bus companies working all over the country.
In the Algarve a procedure of mergers, acquisitions and agglutinations between small transportation companies gave place to the Empresa Viação do Algarve, Lda. We where in the year of 1933 and the birth of this new company took place at 5th of July.
With the main office in Faro they increased their main routes on the center of the Algarve and Baixo Alentejo.
Simultaneously with the development of EVA another company with head office in Olhão grew on the Sotavento Algarvio and on the eastern Baixo Alentejo: The E. R. S. A. – Empresa Rodoviária do Sotavento do Algarve.
In June 1976, this companies where nationalized, originating the Exploração de Passageiros nº 9 of the Rodoviária Nacional.
In January 1991 the RNIP, SA was divided originating the Rodoviária do Algarve, AS, that by receiving all the patrimonial of Rodoviária Nacional of that region integrated the old CEP 9.

This structures where getting ready to privatize in answer to a increasing demand of quality, as well as a getting together of the all the bus companies hitch one with their very on characteristics.

In May 1992 the Rodoviária do Algarve was privatised,originating the now known EVA Transportes, SA.
By the end of 1997, the EVA Company already possessed a fleet of 258 buses and they where still growing. Aiming to serve their clients on a more efficient way, they’ve created several services.
One that we can stand out for is the High Quality Service; EVA / MUNDIAL TURISMO hitch daily connects the Algarve, Lisbon, Oporto and Évora. Besides this service, there are other’s that also deserve our reference, like the Regular Express Service that offers o huge kind of destination which includes all District Capitals of Portugal;

The Regular International travelling that due to the EVA participation in the capital funds of INTERSUL Company allows regular connections between several European Capitals. Among this, the biggest number of passengers is notice on the connection to Paris, Geneva, Zurich and Hamburg.
Rentals that allows schools and universities to organise their students excursions; regular transportation of workers; clients and Hotels.

Tourism Services, that with a large scale of offers, serves the tourist that visits the Algarve. In our days, EVA, SA it’s a company on continuing growth, always trying to server better our clients, searching for better solutions each day.
